Presentation of research to date examining how BIM (Building Information Modelling) software is impacting upon architectural creativity in the early stages of the design process. In particular it examined how BIM software is currently affecting the balance between divergent and convergent thinking which is critical to creativity within the early stages of the design process. The presentation also included elements from the pilot study Leap! which starts to explore whether the identified imbalance in divergent / convergent thinking can be addressed by a tool which generates random actions within the design process in order to overcome creative blocks.
